What Really Happens

Pain Is Not Entertainment

Rodeo animals are subjected to a range of devices and practices designed to provoke distress and agitation — not for safety, but for spectacle. Flank straps are tied tightly around an animal's abdomen, causing intense discomfort that makes them buck. Electric prods are used in the chutes to force animals into the arena. Spurs rake across their sides. These are not accidents. They are the method.

Calves used in roping events are chased at full speed, lassoed around the neck, and slammed to the ground — often sustaining neck injuries, tracheal tears, and broken bones. Many are too young to have fully developed skeletal systems.
